1.   Graduate Institute of Hydrological and Oceanic Sciences at National Central University (herein after referred to as "IHOS") establishes regulations for 'Enhancing the Quality of Theses in the Institute of Hydrological and Oceanic Sciences at National Central University' to maintain the quality of graduate thesis, in accordance with 'Implementation Guidelines for Enhancing the Quality of Thesis' and 'National Central University Rules Governing the Master's and Doctoral Degree Qualifying Exam and Thesis' of the university.
2.   Teachers of IHOS who meet the regulations of National Central University may serve as thesis advisors. The maximum number of new graduate students supervised by IHOS teacher serving as a thesis advisor shall be limited to six graduate students per academic year as a general principle. In the event of a need to exceed this limit on the number of supervised graduate students, a teacher could coordinate with other teachers of borrowing quotas after approval by IHOS Faculty Meeting.
3.   The thesis of the graduate students must be fitted with the professional field of IHOS, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 5-1 of 'National Central University Rules Governing the Master's and Doctoral Degree Qualifying Exam and Thesis', it must be confirmed by the advisor and the degree examination committee before completing the thesis review. If there is any inconsistency with the professional field of IHOS, it will be handled in accordance with Article 7 of NCU 'Implementation Guidelines for Enhancing the Quality of Thesis'.
4.   Graduate students must submit the "Thesis Similarity Comparison Report" of the final dissertation to the office for review, which exclude introduction, references, table of contents, attachments, and the journal article the graduate himself served as the first or corresponding author, the comparison similarity of the report should be less than 30%. If not, students must state the specific reasons and obtain confirmation with advisor before going through the procedures for leaving NCU.
5.   The selection and appointment of examination committee members for graduate students shall be conducted in accordance with the NCU regulations. The appointment of examination committee members under special circumstances shall be approved by IHOS Faculty Meeting.
6.   The postponement or non-publication of the graduate thesis of IHOS students shall require verification and approval by advisor and the examination committee.
7.   These regulations shall come into effect upon approval by IHOS Faculty Meeting and the College Affairs Meeting, and after being submitted to the Academic Affairs Office for record-keeping, as well as correction.
